YOU are valuable!

I was talking to a friend today and she said that people’s responses to my care needs and any resentments about them, are about the person having them. It is so easy for me (and other disabled people) to take that personally and ramp up our appreciation efforts, etc. To say thank you more, even after every little thing. To try to need/call less and to start believing negative things. She put this beautifully and eloquently, so I suggested a later blog post on this. She agreed, so stay tuned for it at some future point. Meanwhile, I think it bears repeating. These responses are never about you. You do not have to shrink, blame, or otherwise put yourself down over them.

They are a temporary, false reflection. You are worthy. You matter.
